SAKURA FOAM RIM SEAL ELIMINATE FIRE RISK
SAKURA is the pioneer in the development of tank seal. The seal is based on special rubber formulation that offer distinct advantage in high sealing performance and eliminating fire risks.
During Niigata earthquake 1964, 5 crude oil tanks were caught on fire and burning for 2 weeks. Sparks from metal and sloshing phenomena was identified as the causes. One of the counter measures taken was that metallic seal mechanism was eliminated entirely and Sakura foam seal was adopted.
More than 3000 tanks were installed with Sakura foam seal and since then had recorded zero accident even during strong Hanshin and Tohoku earthquake occurred in 1994 and 2011 respectively.
SPECIAL RUBBER MATERIAL FORMULATION
Sakura use specially formulated rubber material to meet the challenge of various liquid properties and hostile weather conditions. The durability and sealing performance of Sakura foam seal system are proven from long track record of zero leaking and zero fire accident during its more than 60 years of operation.
Japanese technology at its best!
FLEXIBLE AGAINST FORCE AND DEFORMATION
Sakura foam seal is flexible and able to absorb forces generated by unpredictable movement of the pontoon, tank wall and fluid flow inside the tank.
The flexibility of the foam able to adjust to the irregularity and deformation of the tank wall. It will follows the weld line and tank shell deformation.
MINIMIZE VAPORIZATION AND FIRE RISK
The envelope of the Sakura foam seal is designed to touch the fluid product in the tank preventing any vaporization of the fluid to occur. This offer 3 main benefits:
- Minimize product loss
- Avoid concentration of vapor at the area that can easily ignited into fire with the introduction of spark eg lightning and metal-to-metal collision
- Secondary sealing is not mandatory
EXCELLENT SEALING CAPABILITY
Sakura foam seal soft material is able to adjust to the rounded and irregularity of the tank wall and provide much better sealing as compared to rigid metal-to-metal sealing, which always has empty gap between the metal and the tank wall.
The soft sealing is excellent in minimizing product loss.
Due to rubber material Sakura foam seal is guarantee to be free from corrosion.
NO MOVING PART
Sakura foam seal structure is very simple without any moving part. Malfunction is unlikely to happen.
Periodic check is not necessary until tank is open for inspection which may be done every 7 years or depend on respective country fire regulation.
Sakura foam seal simple structure also allow very fast installation. The seal can be installed in a matter of days.
